Welcome to my custom drapery and soft furnishings workroom!

I am really creative, honest and reliable.

Hello! I am Jamie Terral, wife to my handsome husband of 30+ years, mother to three wonderful children and Mimi to the most beautiful granddaughter! Thank you for visiting my website and welcome to my workroom!

I have always loved design elements, colors, and fabrics! I’m a traditional gal with a little bit of transitional and glitz/glam mixed in! I feed my soul by using fabrics and trims to fabricate beautiful, custom solutions for windows, beds, tables and outdoor living areas.

Since you clicked on this page, maybe you want to get to know me a little better before inviting me into your home. I understand completely! So, below is a short bio.

MY ENCORE CAREER! (The short version!)

I’m a fan of HGTV and my go-to designers are Sarah Richardson and Candice Olson. They have always inspired me!

Duplicating their designs was NOT in my budget, so my love for YouTube was born! I learned to sew home decor, repair drywall, texture, install crown molding, paint, lay tile and wood flooring. Yes, all from YouTube! My favorite of all projects, though, (going back ten years) was sewing home decor. “YouTubing” around in 2018, I came across Workroom Tech and Home Dec Gal. I watched every video and read every blog Susan Woodcock made, and fell in love with her, her methods, and her talent! I signed up for a 3-day class and drove to Tryon, North Carolina, where I was further inspired and gained the confidence to open my workroom, Workroom Creations by Jamie LLC! I continue my education with monthly live webinars and weekly podcasts. In 2019, I attended the Custom Workroom Conference & Marketplace and semi-monthly meetings with the Houston Area Custom Drapery Association.

I’m a proud member of:

Houston Area Custom Drapery Association (A local group of talented workroom owners that meet bi-monthly for fellowship, continued education and live demonstrations.)

Window Coverings Association of America, National and Virtual Chapters (WCAA-National has 682 members, 35 Industry Partners and 13 Chapters. “[O]ur mission is to provide education, networking, a code of ethics, and increased exposure for this unique industry.” Monthly live webinars educate and inspire us!)

Pro Plus Member of the Curtains & Soft Furnishings Resource Library (A fantastic resource for trade resources, industry archives and forums. Educational webinars of relevant business and fabrication topics, podcasts, and access to the CHF Academy’s Career Professional Program and Drapery & Design Digital Digest.)

GETTING TO KNOW ME! The Early Years. (Long Version for those gluttons for punishment!)

I have always loved color. Once I was working and earning a paycheck, the first thing I did was redecorate my room at home. My mother’s advice was to live at home for a while, buy some big-ticket items and save the rest. I bought a queen-sized bed and beautiful Drexel bedroom furniture. This, of course, required bedding! So I purchased a bedspread, drapery panels, and painted my walls! Peach! I was so proud of it and thought it was the best room in the house.

Once I left home and married, I duplicated my bedroom from home, peach walls and all. My husband joked about his peach bedroom walls and flowered bedspread for years! When I wanted to update my bedroom and bathrooms, I hired my first designer. Together we created coordinating window treatments, bedding, pillows and a shower curtain for the guest bathroom in MOIRE fabric (not kid friendly.) New wallpaper, fixtures and matching towels! A few months after completion, I became pregnant with our first daughter. I again enlisted my designer to create a nursery with balloon shades, bedding, a slipcover for my grandmother’s rocking chair, a lampshade and a wonderful, triangular “hammock,” made of fabric to hold all the stuffed animals. This room was a MASTERPIECE (in my mind, of course!)

Our second home was bigger and nicely updated. To make it my own, I hired a wonderful designer, Pam Culpepper. Together we added several window treatments and coordinating art. We also updated all the kids’ bedrooms with new window treatments and bedding.

Moving forward and beyond.

Our third and present home was again, bigger! Big house, big yard, lots of gardens and a pool! Big mistake? Now that the kids are gone, I wish we could chop off the second story and keep the downstairs! We can’t wait to downsize.

Through three homes and three children, I was blessed to work as a paralegal for outstanding, top-tier, litigation law firms. For most of my career, after the kids were born, I worked an abbreviated schedule at the office and home, via network link. I really enjoyed my career in the legal field.

Once retired and the kids grown, I had dozens of projects that I wanted to complete! I hope you enjoy this journey, as I blog about previous, present and future renovations.

I can’t say I no longer do DIY, because I plan to continue to tackle projects around my home and our “future” forever retirement home. But I am fully committed to sharing my love of beautiful fabrics and trims and creating unique, custom window coverings, bedding, and anything else you can think of! Again, welcome to my custom workroom!

My workroom is a work in progress, but “it’s more than a Singer and a pair of scissors” (quoted my husband, Bob. He will be here all week!) I am so proud to work here!

I really love my workroom/office, but it is a constant work-in-progress as supplies come in and go out. It is light and bright, with one large worktable and three additional tables with rolling casters to easily move around to extend the worktable where needed. My husband recently installed a chandelier over my worktable that needs a little TLC and crystals. I plan to fit this DIY project in somewhere!

So if you are a new homeowner with many projects to tackle, or need a room refresh, or a single window. I understand your design dilemmas! I’ve been there and I do not regret going “custom!”
